Replacement HEPA filters
Best information and advice for allergy sufferers who want to buy a HEPA cleaner
![]() |
When vacuum cleaner salespeople sell their cleaners, they often advice that the filter should be changed every twelve months or so. What you should remember is that vacuum cleaner filters are consumable and are therefore good for business. In other words, it is to the advantage of the cleaner manufacturers that you regularly buy new filters.
However, what the sales people will not tell you is that HEPA filters may not need changing for ten years!
However, it is important to keep an eye on your filter as not changing it will mean that the flow of air through your cleaner is impeded and the motor can burn out as a result.
If you are in double, you should consult your supplier of how to replace a HEPA filter.
So to sum up, change your HEPA filter when it needs to be changed, but do not waste you money by changing them on a strict timescale, say every year.
