Looking after your HEPA cleaner

Maintenance is important. Here are some tips, advice and information on how to maintain your HEPA vacuum cleaner and make it last a long time.

1. Change the dust bag before it is completely full. Doing this will make sure that the suction remains strong and the motor does not have to overwork to keep the airflow strong.

2. Clean the rotating brushes and belt regularly to make sure that they do not jam.

3. Regularly check and clean the wands and hoses to make sure that there are no dust jams that could overload the motor.

 4. Make sure the HEPA filter is changed when it looks dirty (not white anymore)

5. Do not hoover over the power cord as this can damage it. It you notice the cord is damaged, seal with insulating tape or better still, replace it.

6. If you see large items on the floor, pick them up rather than sucking them up with vacuum cleaner. Sucking up large items will inevitably cause a blockage which could reduce efficiency or cause the motor to fail.

7. When storing the hose, do not hang it on a sharp hook that could cause a permanent bend or kink.

8. Do not pull the cylinder along by the hose. If the cylinder catches on furniture, it could damage the hose.

9. When you turn off your vacuum cleaner, do not turn it off at the mains. Make sure you turn it off at the controls – otherwise it will start up immediately next time you plug it in.

10. Do not use your vacuum cleaner for wet conditions. Special wet dry vacuum cleaners are available if you need to use a cleaner in wet conditions.
